New Page 1 2009 - 2010 Board of Directors - Election Position Statements
Position: President                   Nominee: Joe Prevo AS, RT (R)(CT), ARRT

Employed At Ingham Regional Medical/Lansing General Hospital for the past 29 years.
The MSRT is changing the away it does business. In the past we had several active districts that were the training grounds for the officers and leadership of the MSRT. Because the district concept is no longer working the way it used to we will need to find new ways to locate and mentor technologists that may be interested in leading this organization forward. As a possible returning President to the MSRT I will encourage the membership so seek out the elected leadership and challenge them to make this organization known by all registered technologists in Michigan and to encourage them to make it a point of asking members to become pro-active members not just a member in name only. We will offer our knowledge and our open minds so that we may continue to build this Society by encouraging new leaders to work with us. I also challenge you the membership to come forward and offer your support to the Board by volunteering your talents and time.

The MSRT has been active in trying to advance the needs of Technologists by supporting the CARE Bill in Washington, being a voice in Lansing, and providing quality continuing education. There is a lot that has been done but there is a lot more to do. We need more Technologists and fresh ideas to advance further. I hope that by serving you as President Elect and then President you will join me in making this the best professional organization around.

Position: 2nd Vice President                Nominee: Bonita Pawlowski

Position: Secretary          Nominee: Cindy Sugg

BIO:
My name is Cyndi Suggs -
I’ve been a registered technologist since 1973. I graduated from a hospital- based program at Lapeer County General Hospital. I continued on at Lapeer after graduation for an additional 3 years before moving downriver and beginning my career at Children’s Hospital. I’ve held a variety of positions at Children’s over the years which included a stint as the Assistant Chief and then Chief Technologist. After my children were born I stepped down and worked for a number of years as a part-time technologist. After 23 years at CHM I accepted a position at another hospital and was gone for 5 years. I have now been back at Children’s for an additional 5 years in my current full-time position. I love working with the kids and am now reaching an age where many of my young co-workers are closer to my patients’ ages then to mine! That’s all right though –
I love working with those kids too.

Position Statement:
I love the fact that radiology has provided me with a long and productive career. It’s now past time for me to pay back some of what I’ve garnered. As a result, I have begun to look for ways to help to improve the image of our chosen profession by working towards the advancement of what isn’t just a job, but truly is a profession. I have been active on the planning committee for the state meetings for 3 years as a way to begin to become more involved with our organization and have enjoyed getting to know and work with the other committee members. It’s been lots of fun helping to plan our meetings and I hope many of you will be joining us in October in Saginaw. There are lots of great things planned. If elected as secretary, the position will allow me to continue to find new ways to become more involved in the great organization that’s available to every registered or student technologist in Michigan – the MSRT.

Thanks, Cyndi

Position: Treasurer     Nominee: William Muller

Position: Affiliate Delegate Nominee: Tim Wescott AS,RT(R), FASRT

It is an honor to be nominated for the position of Affiliate Delegate and to be given the opportunity to represent the technologists of Michigan.
It is a responsibility I take seriously and if elected, you have my pledge to provide open lines of communication so that your voice will be
heard in the ASRT House of Delegates.

I have had the pleasure of serving you in this capacity and have played an active role in the evolution of our national organization.  Our profession has struggled with many issues over the years: majority representation on the ARRT board, professional status for Radiologic Technologists, the CARE and RadCare legislation and a complete restructuring of our representative body-to name a few.  I believe that the experience I have gained through these efforts, along with my historical perspective, enable me to fully understand the workings of the House thereby allowing efficient and effective representation of your views in the national forum.

I respectfully request your support as I seek the privilege of serving as your Affiliate Delegate
